Frequently asked questions about AI implementation at Ideal Shift AI

Ideal Shift AI in brief

Ideal Shift AI takes organisations from AI ambition to working solutions with measurable results. We combine AI strategy with actual building and implementation, and we stay involved in the maintenance afterwards. Our deepest specialisation is Dutch mental healthcare and wider healthcare, where we build AI assistants on top of existing EHR systems. We have also delivered across twelve sectors and realised more than 450 million euro in innovative technology since 2017.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked most, ordered from general to specific.

What does Ideal Shift AI do?

We take organisations from AI ambition to working solutions with measurable results, through four services: AI strategy with a concrete roadmap, custom AI solutions that run in production, AI maintenance for systems already live, and AI workshops for teams and boards. Our deepest specialisation is Dutch mental healthcare and wider healthcare.

How are you different from a regular consultancy?

We do not stop at the report. The same team that writes the strategy builds the solution and handles the maintenance afterwards. That removes handover loss and means the roadmap is written by people who have to be able to execute it themselves.

What does an AI engagement cost?

Engagements are quoted individually based on scope and organisation size. The AI Maturity Assessment and a first advisory conversation are free, and give you enough of a picture to judge whether a full engagement is worthwhile before any money changes hands.

How long before we see results?

An AI strategy engagement typically runs ten weeks and produces a prioritised roadmap. When building, we deliberately pick the application with the shortest path to a visible result, so the organisation feels the effect before internal support fades.

Which sectors do you work in?

We have delivered in twelve sectors: healthcare, FMCG, manufacturing, engineering and construction, trade, automotive, non-profit, high tech, fundraising, telecom, government and education. Healthcare, and specifically mental healthcare, is where our specialisation runs deepest.

What results can you demonstrate?

At mental healthcare provider De Hoop, 5,600 client registrations per year are processed automatically with around thirty minutes saved per registration, and over 95% of incoming email is registered into the EHR automatically. At an Australian engineering firm, a ten-week strategy engagement identified opportunities for 30% faster proposals and 25% higher engineering efficiency.

Is your work GDPR compliant?

Our solutions run on Microsoft technology in GDPR-compliant configurations, with data minimisation as the starting point. At clinical and other high-stakes steps we keep human review in the loop as standard: the AI prepares, the human decides.

Does the AI make decisions about clients or patients?

No. In our solutions the AI prepares and the professional decides. Full automation of clinical decision-making is legally untenable and professionally undesirable; we automate the preparation, not the judgement.

Do we have to replace our EHR or core system?

No. We build on top of existing systems. For browser-based EHR systems we work with a digital assistant delivered as a browser extension, so your EHR vendor has to build nothing and you are not dependent on their roadmap.

Which AI models and technology do you use?

We build on leading Microsoft technology in GDPR-compliant configurations and use frontier models such as GPT-4o, Claude and Gemini where they add value. We design so that you are not locked into a single model vendor.

What happens after a solution is delivered?

AI systems degrade when nobody watches them. Our AI maintenance covers monitoring, quality optimisation, security and scalability, so the time saved is still there next year.

Do you work in Dutch or English?

Both. We deliver projects, workshops and documentation in Dutch and English.

What is the best way to start?

With the free AI Maturity Assessment or a free advisory conversation. Both commit you to nothing and give an honest picture of whether, and where, AI makes a difference in your organisation.
